2021 indictments document 6 years of cyberattacks.
The Department of Justice has unsealed two court cases, documenting how four Russian nationals working for the Russian government targeted thousands of computers with sustained cyberattacks between 2012 to 2018. The attacks reached into company computers across 135 countries in an attempt to damage critical digital infrastructure both outside and inside the United States. They succeeded in causing emergency shutdowns twice.
“Russian state-sponsored hackers pose a serious and persistent threat to critical infrastructure both in the United States and around the world,” said Deputy Attorney General Lisa Monaco. “Although the criminal charges unsealed today reflect past activity, they make crystal clear the urgent ongoing need for American businesses to harden their defenses and remain vigilant.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For attorneys in the Justice Department as they seek to hold foreign and domestic criminals accountable.
- For Deputy Attorney General Monaco to seek God’s leading as she fulfills her role.
- For wisdom for the justices and judges in the federal judiciary as cases regarding national security come before them.
